Scrape the ridges and clean the gosalem. Cut in round slices. Wash the slices and drain the water and dab dry. Mix the pieces with chilly power/pepper powder, turmeric powder, and salt to taste and keep aside.
Make a thick batter of gram flour and add a little salt for taste.
In a deep fry pan, put the cooking oil and heat it. Then dip the gosalem pieces in the batter, and drop in the hot oil and fry. When done, remove them and place them on a paper towel.
